Two summer study committees last year dealt with nursing homes, and finding money to pay those providers.
So far, bills related to those committees have had mixed results.
One bill that would have allowed nursing homes to sell extra beds was killed, another that would help rural nursing homes recruit workers will be up for another hearing this week.
Senator Deb Soholt of Sioux Falls says legislators will have to deal with these issues sooner or later….
Soholt says it is a difficult issue to deal with….
Soholt says long term care workers are becoming more difficult to recruit and retain…..
Soholt says changes at the federal level will also have a big impact on long term care in the state.
