A bill that would restrict access to bathrooms and locker rooms in public schools by trans-gender individuals is on the desk of Governor Dennis Daugaard, waiting for possible action.
The Senate voted final passage of the bill this week.
One of the supporters of the bill, Senator Bill Van Gerpen of Tyndall says he thinks there is a lot of misunderstanding about the bill….
Van Gerpen says they are trying to eliminate discrimination in public schools…..
Van Gerpen says by turning it into a state law, it will protect school districts from possible lawsuits…
The Governor has five legislative days to sign the bill, veto it, or let it become law without his signature.
