South Dakota legislators may get a look at a proposal to expand Medicaid in the last days of the session.
Governor Dennis Daugaard will hold a news conference today to provide an update on the status of the expansion. The federal government sent a letter last week that indicated the Indian Health Service will pay most of the state costs.
Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton is doubtful….
Stevens says legislators need to be involved in this type of policy question…..
Stevens says he doesn’t think there is enough time left to debate the policy changes…..
The expansion could extend medical insurance coverage for up to fifty five thousand people.
