SD Legislators May Consider Petition Changes

While a group of republican lawmakers filed a lawsuit against an initiated measure passed by South Dakota voters last month, there may be more moves to limit the petition process.

Dave Owen, President of the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says there could be some bills related to petition signatures…..

Owen says some of the changes could be focused on constitutional amendments….

Owen says it may be difficult to change those signature requirements….

A circuit judge placed an injunction on IM22, which would put strict restrictions on lobbyists contacts with legislators, finance state campaigns publicly, and create an ethics commission.
