A bill opening up access to non-meandered lakes in South Dakota was passed in a special session last summer, but will expire this summer.
Governor Dennis Daugaard has suggested extending that sunset for three more years.
Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton says he is working on a compromise that would permanently fix it…
Kennedy says a recent meeting with landowners and sportsmen was civil, and productive…..
While landowners are still paying taxes on flooded land, Kennedy says that doesn’t seem to be their major issue…..
Kennedy, who was part of the interim task force on the lakes, says the final details of the bill are being worked out.
