SD Representatives Pass Compromise Bill on Non-Meandered Lakes

South Dakota representatives debated a bill in special session that would open about thirty lakes that have been closed to fishing due to a Supreme Court ruling. The non-meandered lakes are those that flooded onto private land in the 1980s and 90s.

Democrat Representative Spencer Hawley of Brookings says the bill is a compromise…..

The bill passed the House on a 52 to 16 vote, clearing the two thirds majority level to become law on the Governors signature. It now goes to the Senate.
