The Joint Committee on Appropriations of the South Dakota legislature held their first meeting of the 2023 session Tuesday and got an update on the state’s economy.
Jim Terwilliger, head of the Bureau of Finance and Management said there may be a slight recession this year….
Terwilliger says there shouldn’t be a big drop in the eonomy….
State Economist Derek Johnson told the committee that any rise in unemployment will be slight….
The committee will use the information as part of their baseline in writing a new state budget.
