Members of a South Dakota legislative committee heard about revenue options to help providers of Medicaid services at their meeting this week.
The Payment Methodologies for Medicaid Providers Interim Study committee has been hearing about the tight budgets health care providers face when treating Medicaid patients.
Jason Simmons, a fiscal analyst with the Legislative Research Council, gave the committee some options on taxing providers………..

Simmons says those dollars could then be used to leverage federal Medicaid dollars…..

Simmons says Congress then tightened those financial rules in the 90s.
Committee Chair, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton told the committee to come up with proposals for their final meeting……

Hunhoff has said any revenue source they find has to be ongoing to help the providers keep the staff they need.
