SD Legislator Wants Answers from DSS on Issues at the Human Services Center

Former employees at the Human Services Center in Yankton have been coming forward, talking of injuries they suffered, and the fear they felt dealing with, at times, violent patients.
Many employees said they received little to no support from administrators in dealing with those issues.
Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton has met with many of those same employees over the past few months….

Hunhoff says the legislature approved extra funding for the Department of Social Services for a consultant to look over the operation of the hospital…

Hunhoff says she wants officials from DSS to appear in front of the legislatures Government Operations & Audit Committee to answer those questions…

Hunhoff says she doesn’t think the issues reported at HSC are related to a lack of funding.
