The Agland Oversight Advisory Task Force of the South Dakota legislature got the first take of a proposal from Governor Dennis Daugaard to create buffer strips near water bodies to protect them from pollution.
Landowners would get a property tax break on the land set aside for the buffers.
Legislators had questions on the costs. Michael Houdyshell with the Department of Revenue says they have done some estimates, using Lincoln County as an example….

The task force will discuss the bill again at their next meeting in October.
