South Dakota legislators heard from Secretary of State Shantel Krebs on campaign finance laws and contributions Monday. The Government Accountability Task Force is holding their first meeting in Pierre.
Krebs says state law currently has restrictions on political donations by businesses……

Krebs says the current law is complicated and confusing…..

Krebs says contributions could be easier to track if a business could directly support a candidate……

Krebs says those donations would not then have to be funneled through a political action committee. The committee is working on changes to campaign finance laws following the repeal of IM22 by legislators during the session.
