A measure calling for South Dakota voters to decide on whether or not they want a corporate income tax is up before the State Senate Taxation committee today. South Dakota Farmers Union is backing Senate Joint Resolution 2. Farmers Union Legislative Director Matt Sibley says they support the measure because there needs to be a balanced taxation system in the state, to provide property tax relief and boost funding for education and infrastructure.

Sibley says expanding the tax structure is the fairest way to accomplish that.

SJR 2 is sponsored by State Senator Bernie Hunhoff of Yankton.
