The South Dakota Senate Judiciary Committee considered a resolution that would have asked voters to amend the state constitution.

Senator Bernie Hunhoff of Yankton sponsored the measure that would have changed the method used to fill legislative vacancies….

Hunhoff says voters should have a say in who represents them from their legislative district…..

Senator Craig Tieszen of Rapid City says with elections every two years, another special election is not needed….

Tieszen made the motion to send the bill to the 41st legislative day. That motion passed on a vote of five to two, effectively killing the resolution.
