A bill that would authorize the production and sale of industrial hemp was killed by a South Dakota legislative committee today.
The bill was sponsored by Representative Mike Verchio of Hill City.
John Harter of Winner spoke to members of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee………
Brandon Beshears of the state Department of Agriculture says they just can’t allow single growers of industrial hemp….
Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot says it could be another opportunity for the states farmers…..
A do pass recommendation on the bill failed on a four to five vote. It was then sent to the 41st legislative day on a five to three vote, effectively killing the bill.
