SD Legislative Committee Continues GEAR UP Investigation

The Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota legislature will again take up the GEAR UP funding issue at their meeting next month.
Committee Vice Chair, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says they want to hear from the Department of Education, which had oversight over the GEAR UP grants…..

Much of the federal funding for GEAR UP was misappropriated by officers of the Mid Central Educational Cooperative in Platte.

Hunhoff says they need more details of the funding process….

Hunhoff says they want to make changes to oversight of similar funding programs…..

The committee will meet again on July twenty fourth.
