South Dakota lawmakers are off MondaY for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, and will return to Pierre tomorrow Tuesday for the next four-day work week.
One of the bills that is on the fast track is a plan to monitor some prescription drugs, like opioids more closely.
Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton says the bill came out of their summer study on drug abuse…..

Stevens says most doctors are not entering that prescription information into the state system…..

Stevens says they heard examples of how those drugs have been abused….

Stevens, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, says they bill will be back for further hearings this week.
