SD Lawmakers Get First Look at 2017 Budget

South Dakota legislators got their first look at the proposed budget from Governor Dennis Daugaard. The overall spending is about four point eight billion dollars.
Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton says it follows a trend they have seen…..

The budget proposal would take forty two million dollars to pay down bond debt. Stevens says he thinks that could be better used for education…..

The Governor mentioned the Blue Ribbon education report, but didn’t make any specific proposals. Stevens says that and other issues will take up lots of time…..

Lawmakers start the 2016 session on January 12th.
