Many South Dakota landowners are opposing the carbon pipelines proposed by companies like Summit Carbon Solutions.  Mellette, South Dakota landowner Ed Fischbach says the company’s planned route would cross his land and he was unaware of the project until surveyors showed up on his land.

He says he won’t sign an easement for the pipeline and the company has openly stated they are working to get a permit from the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission so they can take the land by eminent domain.

Fischbach says he also has concerns about the safety of his livestock and his family.

He says PUC staff told them the landowners view won’t be heard until the permitting hearings with Summit Carbon Solutions   Fischbach says Summit is receiving a $50 per ton subsidy for the carbon which will be stored in North Dakota and they believe will be used for oil fracking.
