The South Dakota Legislature’s Executive Board approved the findings of a summer study on housing needs in the state. The interim committee was chaired by Representative Roger Chase of Huron, who is a realtor. Chase says infrastructure was a common theme heard during the summer study…..

Chase told the Executive Board that more money needs to go to the South Dakota Housing Development Authority so that group can expand the plans and programs they offer…

Chase says another bill would rebate some contractor’s excise tax…..

Another bill proposal would look to extending the time frame for use of the discretionary formula out to 10 years. The Housing Needs Study Committee will bring a total of nine bill proposals to the 2022 legislature based on input from the Committee’s work.
