SD House Passes Sales Tax Increase

The South Dakota House voted 47 to 21 to pass the half cent sales tax increase yesterday. That bill is a critical part of Governor Dennis Daugaard’s plan to increase teacher pay. The bill was passed on reconsideration after falling one vote short last week.
Representative Isaac Lattererell of Tea opposed the tax increase, and said there are untapped dollars available…

Two members who voted no last week flipped to yes, while one supporter from last week voted no to provide the margin.
