SD House Committee Approves Limiting Out of State Ballot Issue Money

A bill that would limit the amount of out of state money a ballot question committee could raise passed out of the South Dakota House State Affairs Committee today.
The bill would limit out of state contributions to no more than seventy five percent of what was raised in state.
Bill Sponsor, Representative Mark Mickelson of Sioux Falls says many of those national special interest groups go state shopping……

Representative Julie Bartling of Gregory says another bill, SB54, backed by Secretary of State Shantel Krebs already covers the same ground….

The bill was amended, then passed out of committee with a do pass recommendation on a ten to three vote.
