SD Highway Patrol Welcomes Large Class of Recruits

The South Dakota Highway Patrol will welcome its largest group of new troopers in more than forty years at a ceremony Friday in the State Capitol Rotunda in Pierre.

The class has twenty recruits, fifteen men and five women. It’s the largest class since twenty-five recruits joined in 1974.

Highway Patrol Superintendent Colonel Craig Price says this is a big day for them, and the state…..

Price says they tried some new types of recruitment…..

Price says it is also the largest number of women they have had in one class…..

The recruits have had a year of academy and field training. They will be assigned to stations across the state.
