SD Highway Patrol Trooper Injured During Stand Off

Negotiations continue in the rural Brule County standoff. The subject, Donald London, 42, of Kimball, S.D., and a second individual barricaded themselves at his residence located at 24732 360th Ave., in Kimball, this afternoon. London initiated a phone call to the Brule County Sheriff’s Office today threatening law enforcement. While law enforcement attempted to make contact with the subject, a round was fired from the residence, injuring a South Dakota Highway Patrol Officer. The Officer’s injuries are serious, but not life threatening. The Officer’s name will not be released at this time.

The second individual came out of the residence unharmed around 8:00 p.m. He is currently being questioned by law enforcement. Donald London remains in the residence.

Agencies assisting in the incident are the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Brule County Sheriff’s Office, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Aurora County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Lyman County Sheriff’s Office, Jerauld County Sheriff’s Office, Mitchell Police Department, Chamberlain Police Department, South Dakota Game Fish and Parks and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
