With thirty-four South Dakota school districts falling short of the teacher pay standard prescribed under state law, some superintendents say it’s time to take another look at the education funding formula.
Governor Dennis Daugaard says he is willing to listen……
The school districts will appear before the Education Departments, School Finance Accountability Board, and explain why they fell short of the teacher pay goals.

Daugaard says most districts that fell short by percentage points will probably get a waiver…….
The legislation set average pay for teachers at forty-eight thousand, five hundred dollars. The hearings for the school districts will be held in the middle of November.
