Like most in the state, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard is waiting to hear the conclusions of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Education. He appointed the group early this summer, and they wrapped up their meetings in late October.
The Task Force recommended looking at about seventy five million dollars to move teacher pay up about seventeen percent.
Daugaard, on Drivetime with Fred and Tom yesterday on WNAX, says some of the suggestions would move existing school funding……….

Daugaard says there are still questions about the amount of money school districts have in their reserve funds………

Daugaard says it appears the Task Force talked about a number of funding options, but he wants to get the full report…………

Daugaard says any new tax will take a two thirds majority vote in the legislature.
