The Human Services Center in Yankton is no longer doing court ordered mental health screenings for defendants waiting to go to trial. That changed due to a bill passed in this year’s legislature transferring the funding for the evaluations to the counties.

Governor Dennis Daugaard says that is among a number of other changes made to improve service at HSC…

Daugaard says the facility is moving beyond past issues….

Administrator Troy Jones announced he would leave at the end of August after a little over a year on the job due to personal issues.
Daugaard says they are moving quickly to find a new Administrator…..

Pay was increased for workers at HSC, along with an aggressive recruitment program.
