South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard says he won’t push Medicaid expansion during the final days of the 2016 legislative session.
He says legislators have their hands full in the days they have left for debate….
The final four days of the session are reserved for conference committees.
Daugaard says he will ask the Appropriations Committee to take Medicaid expansion out of the budget bill….
Daugaard says this doesn’t mean the end of Medicaid expansion efforts in the state….
The state got a letter from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare last week outlining the federal changes that would be made to allow South Dakota to expand Medicaid coverage. The Governor’s plan would cover an additional fifty thousand people under Medicaid.
