The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department asked the Rules Review Committee of the legislature to allow expansion of a boat registry, in an attempt to slow the spread of invasive aquatic species.
Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton questioned the Department over the new rules…..

Zebra mussels have invaded the Missouri River and Lewis & Clark Lake.
Kennedy says the registry would be modified to allow easier access between the river and lake…..

Kennedy says that would not apply to boats moved out of the area….

Zebra mussels attach themselves to docks and other underwater structures, and can clog up water intakes.
