South Dakota’s 2018 legislative session gets underway in Pierre today. South Dakota Farmers Union is looking at legislation regarding renewable fuels, meandered waters and CAFOs as their priorities. State Farmers Union Lobbyist Mitch Richter says they’d like to see lawmakers pass a resolution supporting E30 usage.
He says his group is closely watching how flooded land is treated on agricultural property through the meandered non-meandered waters legislation.
Richter says they also expect several bills to be offered regarding Confined Animal Feeding Operations.
Richter says so far he isn’t aware of any tax legislation that will be a concern for Farmers Union.
