South Dakota Farmers Union members are supporting state legislation to address nursing home closures. President Doug Sombke says that’s part of their priority measures on finding solutions to the rising costs of health care.
He says without proper Medicaid funding, state nursing homes are feeling the financial pinch and having state legislation to address that is needed.
Sombke says there’s more support growing for State Representative Steve Mccleery’s bill to take care of the nursing home funding problem.
Sombke says McCleerey’s legislation, HB 1060 has passed out of the House Appropriations Committee and is awaiting further action.
