The South Dakota Farm Bureau is providing a donation to help rescue crews called to the scene of a grain bin entrapment in Clay County. Clay and Union County Farm Bureau President Tim Ostrem says together their county and the South Dakota Farm Bureau provided $4,000 to purchase grain rescue tubes for the Wakonda Fire Department.
He says a grain entrapment can have a tragic outcome, as was recently witnessed in the Irene area.
Ostrem says the grain rescue tubes are critical in helping crews react quickly to help victims of grain bin accidents.
The South Dakota Farm Bureau this year is investing $100,000 in local communities for various improvement projects.
