Last week Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt resigned amid ethical allegations, which was welcomed by most farm groups. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says while disappointed at his handling of the Renewable Fuel Standard, the former EPA Chief did do some good for agriculture in rolling back regulations.

He says had Pruitt not addressed the problems with the Obama-era WOTUS rule it could have devastated farmers and ranchers.

VanderWal says his group’s members are hoping whomever the new EPA administrator is, he or she will be friendly to agriculture.

Deputy EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler will serve as interim director of the agency.
