South Dakota Chief Justice David Gilbertson again pointed to the issues of elder abuse during his State of the Judiciary speech to the legislature this week. A task force worked through the issue last year and is bringing a number of suggestions to lawmakers.
Sarah Jennings of Sioux Falls was a member of that task force…..

Jennings says they found there is a need to educate the public and legislators about the issue…..

Jennings says people first have to realize that elder abuse is happening……

A package of bills dealing with elder abuse has been introduced on behalf of the Chief Justice and the task force.
