SD Department of Health Watching Infection Surge in Bon Homme & Yankton Counties

Reported cases of COVID-19 have surged in Yankton and Bon Homme Counties in the past week.
Forty cases were reported in Yankton County in the last seven days with forty-eight total active cases.
Bon Homme County had thirteen new cases in the last week which resulted in the postponement of the start of school in the Bon Homme District until next week.

State Epidemiologist Dr Josh Clayton says the Yankton County infections aren’t related to any one location…

Clayton says the cases in Bon Homme County are considered part of community spread…

Clayton says they will continue to put out public notices when they can pinpoint infection locations….

The state is now reporting about twelve hundred active cases of the coronavirus.
