At the end of their convention last month, county officials decided not to ask the 2017 South Dakota legislature for any more taxing authority.

Yankton County Commission Chairman Todd Woods says they have had some success in the past couple of years….

The consensus at the convention was that roads or law enforcement were the two biggest issues facing counties.
Woods says it differs from county to county…..

The county commission passed a tax opt out in July to raise more money for road work. That tax plan has been referred to a vote, and will be on the November ballot.
