County Commissioners from across the state met with representatives of the Department of Transportation last week in Pierre to talk about bridges and how to pay for repairs and replacements.
Yankton County Commissioner Todd Woods says they heard about a lot of aging bridges in the state….

The state D.O.T. has been giving BIG, or Bridge Improvement Grants, to counties the last couple of years.
Woods says counties can help themselves move up the eligibility list…..

Woods says the grants are very competitive…..

Woods says Yankton County has eighty-three bridges currently, with over four hundred small structures.
