Members of South Dakota’s Congressional delegation have been frustrated with what they say is the lack of cooperation and information from officials in the Indian Health Service.
Congresswoman Kristi Noem says she has had the experiences first hand….

The IHS hospitals at Pine Ridge and Rosebud have both closed their emergency rooms for months at a time due to lack of federal certification.
Noem says that is one reason they have sponsored bills calling for reforms, and an audit of the IHS……

Noem says they will continue to push IHS officials for more information on the operations of their hospitals…..

A pair of bills dealing with reform of the Indian Health Service have cleared the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, and will now move to the Senate floor.
