South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem has introduced a bill she says will lead to substantial reforms to the Indian Health Service. The agency has had numerous problems with its hospitals on state Indian reservations.

The Pine Ridge and Rosebud hospitals have closed their emergency rooms after failing federal inspections. The Rosebud hospital has now stopped offering OB and surgical service due to staffing issues.
Noem says her bill should help IHS recruit people to those hospitals….
Noem says her bill would provide for more accountability from IHS staff and supervisors.
