The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs held a town hall forum in Rapid City on Friday to hear about the issues and problems with the Indian Health Service.
South Dakotas Congressional delegation, along with Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming were at the meeting.
Senator Mike Rounds says they will stay with this issue until there is a resolution…..
Rounds says he thinks the IHS will move quickly to reopen the emergency rooms at the Rosebud and Pine Ridge hospitals….
Rounds says the tribes need to have more input into the operation of Indian Health Service facilities……
Many who attended the hearing told the representatives that the federal government has to live up to treaty obligations with the tribes.
