The State of South Dakota filed a lawsuit against the South Dakota Regional Center over its management of the EB-5 program, and now federal authorities are threatening to revoke the states authority to use the certificates.

The EB-5 program allows foreign investors to gain citizenship for a five hundred-thousand-dollar investment. Those dollars are supposed to be used for economic development projects.

Democratic Congressional Candidate Paula Hawks says those type of programs can too easily lead to corruption……

Former state economic development commissioner Richard Benda committed suicide following alleged charges of embezzlement from the regional center.

Hawks says there has to be more control of programs like that…..

Hawks is facing republican incumbent Congresswoman Kristi Noem in the November election.
