A number of towns and cities in the state are planning major upgrades of their water and waste water treatment plants.
The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources is the lender of first resort for those communities.
Mike Perkovich is an engineer with the DENR. He says a request from the City of Yankton is among the largest applicants this year…..
Perkovich says there is a lot of aging infrastructure that will need expensive upgrades in the next few years…..
Perkovich says they also have some grant funds to help with the project costs….
Most of the funding is on a twenty to thirty-year revolving loan cycle.
