For the second year, the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation is offering their Fed Cattle Challenge program. Foundation President Ryan Eichler says in their first year, the Fed Cattle Challenge had 22 participants. He says the goal is to give students, ages 14 to 18 a good insight into the cattle feeding industry in South Dakota.

He says the foundation partners with Winner Circle Feedyards with the program.

Eichler says each participant in the Fed Cattle Challenge owns three head of cattle from a pen at Winner Circle Feedyard.

Awards will be given out to the top three participants. $1,500 for first place, second place receives $1,000 and third place gets $500. Registration is now open until August 15. Those interested can go to the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation website to register.
