The elimination of the Waters of the U.S. Rule is the top policy priority for South Dakota Cattlemen Association members coming out of last week’s convention.  Association President Todd Wilkinson doesn’t expect a Congressional fix of WOTUS.  He says the present court action is the best chance to stop the rule and he expects the case to make it to the Supreme Court.

Wilkinson says the Association members are also calling for a repeal of country of origin labeling.  He says it has been and continues to cost South Dakota cattle producer’s money.

He says there’s enough backing in Congress to get COOL repealed, but that action needed to be taken a long time ago.

Wilkinson says on the state level, his Association is also closely monitoring what happens with South Dakota DNR’s CAFO rules. A hearing scheduled for this month has been pushed back to January.
