The 2016 South Dakota legislative session gets underway today. South Dakota Cattlemen Association priorities include taxes, diagnostic lab funding and livestock development. Executive Director Jodie Anderson says their focus with taxes will be as it relates to education funding.
She says they’ll ask lawmakers to use spending authority for updating the SDSU Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Lab.
Anderson says her group also wants lawmakers to continue support rules that promote livestock development in the state.
The session kicks off this afternoon following the Governor’s State of the State Address.
