SD Businesses Have to Push Workforce Development

It looks like any major workforce developments will have to come from the private sector this year.
The South Dakota legislature did not see any bills dealing with finding more workers for state businesses.
Dave Owen, President of the state Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says the issue has not gone away…..

Owen says there will have to be some creative solutions…..

Voters approved a constitutional amendment last November that sets up an independent board to oversee the states tech schools. Owen says that will be a major boost…..

The state’s unemployment rate continues under three percent, with about twelve thousand open jobs listed on the labor department website.
