Ericka Boomsma, an elementary teacher in Huron, is worried the new standards will gloss over important lessons her students are learning now…

Board Member Phyliss Heineman said the new content is vital…

The board voted five to two to approve the standards. The Department of Education will now work with schools to implement the new standards in 2024.
