The Blue Ribbon Task Force on Students and Teachers is meeting again in Pierre. The group is hearing from school financial experts as they work through education funding issues.
The legislature in 2010 allowed school districts to use dollars from their capital outlay funds to supplement their general funds.
Tamara Darnell, the Chief Financial Officer for the State Department of Education used different schools districts to show how capital outlay funds were used…………

Darnell says other districts were able to push their general funds in the opposite direction…………
Darnell says some districts had one time events that made a big difference in their fund balances…………

The task force was appointed by the Governor to come up with some solutions to the teacher shortage and school funding crunch.
