While the final report of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Education has been delivered to Governor Dennis Daugaard, details of the legislative plan associated with it are still being worked on.

Senator Billie Sutton of Burke, a member of the task force, says there were a number of issues left unresolved….

The Task Force recommended an average salary of forty eight thousand dollars for teachers, with a fourteen to one student – teacher ratio to achieve that funding.

Sutton says the Task Force wasn’t specific on the dollar need to achieve that……

The Task Force report also suggested looking at a one cent sales tax increase to fund the higher teacher pay.
Sutton says there may be an opportunity to help more than teachers in the plan……

Governor Dennis Daugaard will deliver his budget address on December 8th.
