South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says law enforcement can release information about accidents and crimes to the public.
Much of that information was withheld following passage of Marsy’s Law in last month’s election. That constitutional amendment provides crime victims with rights to protect their privacy.
Jackley had assembled a task force to help him form those opinions…..https://soundcloud.com/wnax-radio/marty-jackley-1206a
Jackley says the task force will continue, and has added some subcommittees to look at more of the issues…………
Jackley says they continue to get questions about enforcement of the law…..
Jackley, in the opinion, says victims have to invoke their rights to prevent disclosure of information, that it is not automatic.
