South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley appeared before the Government Operations and Audit Committee of the legislature in Pierre Monday, to answer questions about the investigation into the GEAR UP program, and Mid Central Educational Cooperative in Platte, which managed that grant program.
Jackley answered a series of questions, mostly from Senator Stace Nelson of Fulton. One dealt with the ability of GOAC to investigate boards that are part of state agencies….

Mid Central was audited by the Schoenfish Company, including state Representative Kyle Schoenfish of Scotland. Jackley says he doesn’t see liability of that company…..

Jackley was also asked if he was investigating more than the GEAR UP contracts held by Mid Central…..

The committee will also hear from the Department of Education about those programs.
